Hakkai took a gulp from the Dead Sea before spouting and rubbing all that salt on Hazel's wounds XDD
His tongue is a ruthless viper, coated in high-end quality speech. Dang.

I'm glad it was well-translated.
It really shows Hakkai's usual high-end way of speaking. This guy can kill you with the prettiest words.

Slight miss though : Hazel ends up really snapping, because Hakkai implies that his (Hazel's) teacher really taught him badly, since he's got crude manners.

Also, in the end : when Sanzo says that the one who'd die in the morning is responsible for his own fate...
He's actually saying :
"The one who dies is a loser".
("Being a loser" is actually a running gag in their group, and also an effective incentive to get better and not be complacent. Hence why, when they play janken to decide who's gonna carry Sanzo back to the jeep, Sanzo himself plays too, totally ignoring his blatant disability to handle the task. Because he doesn't want to be the loser - nor be the butt of jokes for months LOL)

Kirito • 2 years ago

The sanzo party They seriously left hazel in that woods until someone pick him up by some guy

Passerby • 2 years ago

Well, what do you expect from guys whose leader's motto is : "If yall ever become a burden to me, I'll kill you".
XD They all take pride in being able to deal with their stuff on their own, you know ?

Also, to be fair, Hazel's fall was quite tall.
99% would expect death upon crashing.
So there no real point in worrying, or caring, unless you want to carry unnecessary regrets.
As Sanzo said this episode : "The one who dies is a loser!"

(That's his way of interpreting buddhist teachings, I guess : things that must come, will come. There's no use in refusing to acknowledge the usual way Nature works, or trying to twist it. If Hazel's fate is to die from his fall, he will, wether you help him or not. If it isn't, he'll live. And again, it will not matter wether you're the one who helped him achieve that, or not.)

You're welcome :)
Glad you liked SAIYUKI Zeroin.
If you haven't yet, check out the "Blast" SAIYUKI season that came out last year ! (Or the year before ? I don't remember exactly...)
It's the direct continuity of this season ;)

It's all sanzo fault for breaking that pendant if he didn't break that pendant then Gato would still be alive it's all sanzo fault

Passerby • 2 years ago

Gato's the one who broke the pendant, though.

Because he wanted to free Hazel from the burden of always ressuscitating people. Because he knew this power was a shackle, and people around him would always have the desire to manipulate him into doing their bindings because of it.
As long as Hazel had the pendant, anyone could have used his (Hazel's) own guilt as a weapon against him, and he would always live his life answering others need ; but never fulfilling his owns.
Gato wanted Hazel to be free from everything, including being free of taking care of his long-dead body, and always worrying about stacking up souls for him to function.

Gato never wanted to live.
He accepted his death the day it happened.
He just accepted to delay it, so that Hazel could have ample time to deal with the guilt of having killed someone, and going through the grief process of loosing somebody, and accepting the Natural Laws as normal.

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

Well if he didn't break it, a lot of bad people would have been resurrected.

Now THIS was the best series this season! Amazing bromance between the Sanzo party and their battles are always epic! They even suffered their first crushing defeat against Ukoku, showing how they are not invincible either! This series will be missed! :)

Overall Rating: 10/10. Perfectly Satisfied! :)

13:18 😔RIP Gatti "Gat" Nenehawk!!!
15:36 Wow and Damn!!!
17:13 Literally just got their azzes handed to them, and they are roasting each other. That's some serious friendship right there, Lmao!!!

19:35 Gonna assume that Sanzo blinded him with that round.

Have to admit, when they introduced Hazel Grouse and Gatti "Gat" Nenehawk. Was hard to see which direction they will go and will their inclusion help the story for this season. Two words, Hell yes!!!

Last two episodes brought everything together with that twist with Hazel, the emotional loss to him in the final death of Gat. And the one that set these things in motion as we learn how staggering OP he truly is. part of me wished Goko took of his crown.

But part me was thinking, would that still be enough to defeat Ukoku Sanzo!?!! But Genjo caught him slipping and looks as though that may have cause Ukoku to lose his sight. Guess we gonna have to wait awhile as years go by between airings.

Last one was in 2017, and before that, OVA's in 2011 and 2013.

But this was a solid end of a roller-coaster of emotions. 8/10.

If Sabikui Bisco was not such a queerbait (hoping to sell itself to BL fans after what it did in the light novel)- if it were a bit more sincere in advancing a relationship between guys without disguising the homophobia with irrelevant hetero fanservice (both in the anime and the light novel), I'd say I enjoyed it more than this. But no, I think this is much more genuine, enlightening, and refreshing. I hope this gets more episodes.

Goosie🦆 • 2 years ago

I didn't really think SB (at least the anime) was such a queerbait. I thought the relationship of Bisco and Milo were more akin to siblings and I was surprised to find others react that the scene where Milo said I love you when Bisco was dying was gay. I heary guy friends said that to each other a lot (especially when they get drunk) but most especially when one gets in a bind (illness, death in family, etc).

And I enjoy both anime series so hopefully, we'll see them again.

Time to rewatch old Saiyuki series.

Ashurane • 2 years ago

this has many seasons actually, google it. it has many before that and a movie and also alerady released season after that one. you can google the order to watch in case you havn't known =)

Kirito • 2 years ago

This anime feels like it belongs to the Early 2000's anime it's kinda cringe rn or maybe new watches would find this touching or people who passionately loves this anime

Genji • 2 years ago

queer what? lmao

Nika Takatori • 2 years ago

Saiyuki is a Shounen.
Sabikui Bisco is also a Shounen.
Saiyuki is known to have a lot of fans make yaoi fanfiction but that's also any anime like Durrarara or Kurokos Basketball.
There is not just one type of love people need to realize not everything is romantic passion sexual love. There's brotherly love and parental love, the moment Goku meets both Konzen and his reincarnation Genjo Sanzo he calls him 'bright like the Sun' it's similar to how Hiling told Bojji in Osama Ranking that Kage is Bojji's 'Sun' it's a deep friendship, respect, and a bit of idolizing type of love. It's not 'BL'.

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 2 years ago

You are so right! Not all relationships are sexual! There used to be such a term between surfers called 'bromance', where 2 guys were really close but not romantically - like Shaggy and Scooby-Doo kind of friendship! Best of buddies and almost like brothers - but this was back in the days where you could have a hug between bros without being called out as gay! :(

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

Those aren't fans at all, they are disgusting little girls that should stop that bullshit.

Genji • 2 years ago

Exactly. lol
That guy was straight up delusional saying that.

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 2 years ago

Is this gay? Idk... This could be both interpreted as brotherhood and/or gay. And the not-so-obvious aspect of romance is sööö vague that I'd say it can easily appeal to everyone.
Very well done in that aspect.

Genji • 2 years ago

It's not gay, he's just either ignorant or watched too much porn lol

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

No it can only be interpreted as brothers taking care of each other.

DenpaNoShinobi • 2 years ago

They made Ukoku way physically stronger than the original. I like the old version better.

Passerby • 2 years ago

What are you talking about ?
THIS is the original Ukoku.
This guy has always been a beast.

In the spin-off manga centered around his and Komyô's generation of Sanzos, it tells their youth and the specific training they went through to get their Sanzo titles, and it was harsh competition.

Even there, he was described as a genius, excelling in every buddhist and martial arts teachings, nailing everything on his first tries with unbelievable ease, AND unleashing never-before-seen powers of uncommensureable scale and intensity.

The guy was bored out of his mind , so much it made him crazy. He was literally
just waiting for a Sanzo title fall into his lap. His only rival, Komyô, never agreed to spar with him on anything, knowing that any blow exchange between them would destroy the world.

And that was BEFORE, he got his hands on the Muten Kyomon Sûtra.

If by "original " you mean the Ukoku depicted in the old anime, he's actually heavily watered-down, to reinforce a crucial character trait : Ukoku purposely chose not to use his powers because his greatness is completely boring to him, and he hates boredom with a passion. He'd much rather toy with people's lives and get some fun out of it ; than live like a badass sanzo and endure boredom for life.

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

So if he had to fight Goku in his Seiten Taisei form, would it be a close fight?

Passerby • 2 years ago

Hmmm.
I think the scale of their powers is equally huge and destructive.
Physically speaking, Goku’s god strength may be higher, but Ukoku's a genius master of martial arts, so he might be able to compensate the difference with his skills.

If they engage in only physical brawl, Ukoku would end up losing. There's a limit to how much he can evade deadly blows, while striking heavy ones... On an enemy that will regenerate in a split second anyway.

If both are using their powers, though... Ukoku might win with strategy and clever use of his Muten Kyomon. That sutra can negate anything. He could just think of negating Seiten's powers, or existence...
Even if he doesn't, Seiten Taisei's still a brainless murder maniac, Ukoku would easily manipulate him, anyway

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 2 years ago

Correct! You are very smart for noticing these small traits! :)

This is your second correct comment and since so, I would like to request your help with something:

What do you think is the strength ranking between the Sanzo party? Who would win against whom if they ever fought 1 on 1? My ranking is this:

1. Sanzo
2. Goku
3. Hakkai (I would put him above Goku though because of the fight he won against Goku)
4. Gojyou (because I have not seen him at his best yet)

Passerby • 2 years ago

Nah, that's not smart, I just read the manga way too much^^ and I enjoyed the whole psychological build the author did for each character. It made me reflect and learn a lot when I was younger.

Hmm, that's a tricky question.
They all have very different powers, and fighting styles, so I'm not sure if one is actually stronger than the others. 🤔

(Please, bear with my long-a-s-s explanations below😅)

Passerby • 2 years ago

In terms of raw power, though, Goku's on top. This guy literally has Nature's unlimited power at his service. He's a God. If he had Hakkai or Sanzo's wits,
or Ukoku's drive to mess up the world, instead of just being a crazy murderer when he transforms, he would truly be the most dangerous.

But he's a kid, and has very simple drives/patterns, so he's not difficult to counter and win over, as long as you can avoid/deflect/resist his attacks. Hence, why he often looses against the others 3 in playful fights, but also in mahjong and other contests. Or when his pals actually get dead serious about the fight, when he’s rampaging in God form.

It'd be interesting to see what he becomes in a few years though :
He's been learning slowly through the whole SAIYUKI's journey, and you can definitely see his attacks patterns getting more intricate, and him getting better at analysing his ennemies. Once he gains enough experience and succeed in controlling his God form, he’ll be invincible.

Passerby • 2 years ago

As for now, "human" Gojyo isn't the strongest of the 4.
But he's very street smart, often comes up with unpredictable moves, knows how to gain the upper hand in a fight and - even if he doesn't have the strength to finish off ennemies in one blow with huge power - this guy's tenacity and endurance are unmatched. He may not be stronger than the others, but he'd most definitely outlast them all in a prolonged fight. And what's the point of being strong, if you end up being defeated because you passed out ,right? Anybody can kill you then.
Gojyo definitely would.

That’s in the context of a serious but non-lethal fight.

If Human Gojyo actually faces off Sanzo’s Makai Tenjo Blast, or God Goku’s wrath all alone, and the scale of the attack is greater than what he can evade, he’d most definitely die, or be irremediably crippled and out.

Yokai Gojyo is a huge mystery though.
We have absolutely no idea what he would look like, or what kind of powers he would unleash once transformed.
He could very well be on par with God Goku’s dangerosity level. Even more, if he ends up being sentient but still rampaging because of the yôkai perturbation influence. It could flip the whole ranking on its head.

Passerby • 2 years ago

Sanzo’s definitely strong, both physically and magically, and he’s got wits and strategy. He’s able to win most fights against the other 3, but he’s got critical flaws : his endurance is bad, he’s not properly trained (physically) and often ends up overexhausting himself. He’s also got a peculiar mental approach to fights, that’s not really helpful in the long run.

… it’s like he dives in headfirst, disregarding his life or safety, and hopes to win through guts and luck. He fights just like a cornered animal, in a sense… ?

In a lot of their group fights, you can actually see the other 3 handling this shortcoming for him, covering his blindspots, but also anticipating attacks he won’t see coming because of his tunnel mindset. Even then, Sanzo will often end being the most critically injured after their fights.

If really pushed into a 1-1 deathfight with the others, he’d definitely loose against all 3. They’re pretty similar, yet Gojyo would drain and outlast him eventually.
He’d loose to Goku and Hakkai as well, if both get serious, for the same endurance reasons. Against God Goku and Yokai Hakkai, he’d die. He wouldn’t be able to handle the first one’s power, and -given proper incentive- Hakkai’s ruthlessness and will to win/kill would surpass his.

His only saving grace reside, not in him, but in his ennemies : Goku’s stopping his God form from killing him, offering him a short window to use his crown and revert him back.

Or Hakkai finding mercy in himself at the last moment.
(He’s got lots of mental traumas that could be used against him, but he’s been steadily working on them. So even hit by hurtful psychological attacks, current Hakkai wouldn’t be stopped by them. )

Passerby • 2 years ago

As for Hakkai, he might actually be the strongest.

He doesn’t have the raw power of God Goku or the Makai Tenjo, but he’s skilled enough with energy manipulation to create blasts close to their levels of devastation. This skill has a time limit (his Qi gets depleted) but he’s proven time and time again that he knows how to use it cleverly. In most fights, he clearly knows how to save some to deal with the aftermath injuries of his party members.

Then, he’s also constantly learning new stuff, and refining his crafts.

He’s extremely versatile and knows how to use his skills the most efficiently out of the 4. Wether it’s martial arts, close combat, defense, healing or strategy, he’s able to handle it all. He also activates part or all of his yokais powers intelligently (claws) to give himself an edge. In full yokai form, even with depleted Qi, his augmented physicals and others powers would largely cover the Qi loss.

Provided he can use something as a distraction, he’s even able to handle God Goku. Even though he’d be critically wounded or put his sanity at stake.

His mental fortitude is also no joke.
Hakkai is a totally ordinary human that willfully chose to do himself a 180° change and become a serial killer in order to achieve a revenge bloodbath. Contrary to most people choosing vengeance, he didn’t snap and let himself be engulfed by his emotions. He chose to forsake everything he believed in, to forsake the very person he was for this task. And succedeed.

A lone scrawny human teacher with a knife. Against a thousand-person mafia-like overpowered yokai clan. At a time when yokais weren’t crazy yet, thus them purposefully using theirs powers against you would be even more dangerous.
This guy did that.
Becoming yokai in the process was just unforeseen development.

Hakkai doesn’t appear dangerous, because he chooses not to portray himself that way. But he’d be willing to go further than anyone to achieve his goal, and he’s smart enough to know how to use each and every skill and opportunities he has, or can create, to get to it.

And he’ll succeed because there’s no « or die trying » mentality within him. He’s not desperate or destructive like the other 3.
(He was, but he improved. Which makes him even more unbreakable). This guy’s will might very well be the downfall of any enemy he crosses, specially his mates.

(They say it themselves : if Hakkai gets serious at mahjong, binge-drinking or anything, you CAN’T win. If he gets angry, you RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.)

Ger Vang • 2 years ago

I guess that depends on who his yokai parent actually is and how strong they are.

Passerby • 2 years ago

Probably... ?
There is very little known about yokais powers... Most of them seems to only have enhanced physical attributes, heightened senses, and claws and fangs.
Even Dokugakuji (Hakkai's full yokai step brother) seems to fit that category.

So far, very few yokais have strayed from that pattern : Kogaiji, being a very high-rank noble yokai is able to summon demons and execute various magic spells, Zakuro has the gift of Illusions, yokais from the Arachnid Clan seem to be able to transform into giant spiders...
but that's it.
Actually, Hakkai's yokai form is quite peculiar, in that sense. Being able to produce and manipulate vines is uncommon. So, maybe the breeding between human and yokai produce powerful mutations that give new powers ?
Maybe not ?

There's no way to know what Gojyo can turn into. But that's exactly why it's exciting !
